I reserved in Ocean front room and was given a partial Ocean front room where the view was 90% parking lot! The room had moldy smell, and hallway smelled like marijuana. When I called to complain and request a change, they sent me to a different room on the opposite end of the hotel. It had a better view of the dunes, but not the ocean. The toilets did not flush well and the bathtub as well as the shower got clogged. The drainage is extremely poor in this hotel. there was hair in the shower and the doors had food stains(?), which were not cleaned from previous clients. I would not recommend staying at this hotel another time. The full bed that was promised is a sofa bed, which was extremely springy. I feel they need to train reception for client reception. . as we were informed by other staff, the first hotel room, we stayed always has issues. So they should not be putting clients into those hotel rooms when they had other rooms available. Not very well run! Very disappointed!

I liked the room we got. We got the Standard room on the ground floor. The king sized beds are always fun. There was also 2 bathrooms with 2 showers in our room. The living room area had a pullout bed in the couch. Parking was quick and easy and the grounds were beautiful!! The hot tub was huge!! The pool was also huge and only 5' deep at most. We didn't try the restaurants because they were too expensive for us and we also wanted to try the surrounding eateries. It's right on the beach so if you're coming for the beach life this is worth it!!! Overall I'd recommend and would come back

What a great place to stay. The room was great. Bed was comfortable. Food options on property could be better. But so many options close by so it's not a big deal. The beach access is great. I am not sure of a better place to stay right on tbe beach. We will be back. Infact I hate that I had to leave.

We wanted a resort-style hotel near the beach for our five-day getaway from the Summer heat of Palm Springs. We also wanted to meet up with our daughter and son-in-law, so they drove down from Northern California to join us. Overall, the hotel met our objectives, so we gave it 4/5 stars. The rooms are very nice, with the benefit of two bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower. They came equipped with microwaves, a small refrigerator, a wet bar, and a Keurig coffee maker. The hotel is also dog-friendly. An added touch is that the underground parking puts you right underneath the building where your room is located, so it is easy to get luggage to your room. No need for valet parking. The hotel is located right on the beach, with nice walkways that take you out to the sand dunes, where seating is available to just sit and watch the ocean. You can't beat the location. What kept the hotel from getting the full five stars was the food options and service lapses. There is one traditional restaurant, Ox and Ocean, and a trailer setup, Sugar Beats. Ox and Ocean has good food, but the menu is limited, and the service is very slow. The waitstaff is nice and has a positive vibe, but their lack of customer service training shows. One problem with staying in Oxnard is that it is not really a tourist destination like Santa Barbara, so there is a dearth of off-site restaurants to choose from. The food prices are high, but we expect that when we are on vacation. You have to weigh convenience versus cost and how you want to spend your time. Also, housekeeping did not clean our rooms daily, but we did get fresh towels upon request. Another negative is that, while the pool is very nice, it is filled with small children from dawn to dusk. If you are a family with small children, this is your hotel, but we opted not to use the pool. It would have been impossible to do any real swimming. We did get a nice room upgrade as Diamond members. One small annoyance was the clanging of a metal gate underneath our room that accessed the pool area. Our two rooms both had nice decks to sit and just enjoy the beautiful weather in July.

Positive: Every drink we ordered at the various locations was exceptional. From the pool to the dive farm to the restaurant drinks were on point. And you absolutely cannot beat the location. I was also impressed by the quality of the pillows and bedding. Negative: I did not appreciate that at check-in we were told there was a free wine mixer. We planned our Friday around that event just to be told once we showed up that there was a mixup and that the event was for locals only and it was sold out.

Fourth time here now, have loved it every time. The views are amazing on every side of the location. The staff is exceedingly accommodating and helpful, truly making you feel valued. The beach directly in front is amazing, clean, accessible (they even have wheelchairs available for accessibility on the sand!) And you'll always have something to do here. The churro stand, amazing restaurants, shakes, pool, painting, honestly the list goes on. Can't get enough of this place!

We had a wonderful time at Zachary Dunes resort during spring break! I have to say that because of several bad reviews here on Google Maps, we had some doubts about this place, but after considering what's important to us on a vacation, we still decided to book it and we did not regret this decision. Here's a summary of our thought process, why we chose to book, and our overall experience. We were looking for a nice resort on the beach in the area between Santa Barbara and LA and this hotel met all criteria. We wanted nice rooms, ocean access without a highway separating us from beach, a fun swimming pool and a whirlpool. Zachary Dunes had it all and was a lot cheaper than other hotels that were closer to Santa Barbara. Most bad reviews focused on some noise in the rooms, no real ocean view in the rooms labeled as "partial view" (thank you dear reviewer who wrote that - we decided to spend $20 more per night for full ocean view and it was stunning!), and people unhappy about parking being extra cost. Oh - and someone complaining about avocado toast costing $19. Our perspective? Noise is manageable and understandable given many of the guest are families with young kids like us. View from the room - was totally worth the extra cost for better view. Parking - unfortunately, this seems to be the standard in California and they were transparent about it when we booked so it wasn't a surprise. Just ask how much it is in advance and add it to your budget. And avocado toast? In a random cafe in Santa Monica it costs $23 so $19 is actually a good deal. Our experience: we had a wonderful time. The hotel actually exceeded our expectations. The pictures were 100% true to reality. The staff was super kind. The fact that all rooms are 1BR is a huge bonus - super spacious, plus the sleeper sofa is huge and could easily fit two kids. The rooms were cleaned daily. The pools were great and very clean and the whirlpool temperature was good for little kids to be able to enjoy it. The beach was amazing, clean, and not crowded even during the weekend. We did not hear any noise in our room and the food at the restaurants was delicious. I highly recommend this place. Oh, and the avocado toast is really good. You should totally try it.

Our room was ok and I can see why some people would like this hotel, but it was not for us. The room was clean and visually appealing. We were in the Inspiration building and all the doors slammed very hard (seemingly all night). My family and I were very aware of this and attempted to not let it close so hard, but still contributed to the problem. The full bathtub was installed incorrectly and was awkwardly loud and creaky. Neither toilet flushed well despite observing the warning on the back of the toilet. I would have loved to sit on the patio, but there was so much bird poop I didn't want to walk out there. Absolutely NOT worth the price.
